Ethiopia – Bekele Gemeda – Heirloom – Washed

Farmer: Mr Bekele Gemeda

This coffee is from Café Imports’ “Single Farmer Project”. The goal of this program is to help develop long-term relationships between producers and roasters that share in the values of transparency and traceability.

Coffee farmer Mr Bekele Gemeda is a resident of small village called Worka 13 kms from Gedeb town in the Yirgacheffe region. He owns two coffee plantations in the same village, totalling 9.5 hectares. He works full time on his farms assisted by local workers and family members, and as a father of 11 children, fully relies on the income he generates from his coffee farms.

Mr Bekele Gemeda was incredibly grateful to see that the care he has put into his coffee showed well enough in the cup to have his coffee kept separate to be sold as a single producer lot instead of being mixed with other farmers coffees, something that is rare in Ethiopia.
