Farm: Caficauca Cooperative

Behind this coffee is the Caficauca cooperative, founded in 1961 by 297 growers and now representing more than 2,900 farmers across 24 municipalities. The name is in reference to the region of these municipalities: Cauca. This regional blend brings together varieties including Castillo, Caturra, Centroamericano F1 and Colombia — a snapshot of the diverse coffee-growing communities Cauca has to offer. Smallholder farmers grow coffee between 1,500 and 2,000 metres above sea level.

The coffee is fully washed, giving it a clean, bright character and letting its natural sweetness shine. Ripe cherries are handpicked on the farms, then pulped and fermented in tanks before being washed with clean water. The parchment is dried slowly in parabolic dryers, regularly raked for an even dry over 10–15 days.

For its members, Caficauca offers more than a market for their coffee. Farmers benefit from reliable commercialization, fair pricing and accurate weighing, as well as access to agricultural inputs, technical support and financial assistance. The cooperative also provides social and educational programs for farmers and their families. Caficauca even operates its own roasting business, creating opportunities for farmers to participate further along the coffee chain and share in the value of their work.

Tasting Notes: Lime, red apple, and toffee sweetness, with a hint of delicate florals.
