Farmer: Geraldo Luiz
Geraldo Luiz, called Soró by everyone from the neighbourhood, was one of the first partners of FAF Coffees from the Cachoeirinha valley. It is more than 15 years ago, when João Hamilton approached him and his father Seu Geraldo to start a partnership, which lasts until today.
Soró is always up for a joke and loves to tell stories about the community or share ideas. Through his lead role in the community, many others followed his example and joined the partnership with João Hamilton and FAFCoffees.
Soró’s family was one of the first to arrive in the Cachoeirinha Valley and in the beginning nobody planted coffee there but held dairy cows on pastures. Over the years the landscape changed and today one can see coffee plants covering the mountain slopes across the whole valley. The waterfall that gave name to the valley and the community is located on the east end of the valley. The Da Silva family headed by Seu Geraldo, Naldinho, Soró and Zé Pato steward this beautiful piece of land together with their neighbours, the Bertelli’s.
Tasting Notes: Flavours of almond, cocoa nibs and pear, with a brown sugar sweetness and creamy mouthfeel.
